This linen tea towel is made from organic cotton and features a pattern inspired by the red carpets of the historic Senate Chamber at Old Parliament House in Canberra.
Furnished in red to reflect Britain's House of Lords, the Senate Chamber saw many firsts. In 1943, Dorothy Tangney was the first woman elected to the Senate. Neville Bonner became Australia's first Aboriginal federal parliamentarian when he was appointed to the Senate in 1971. Queen Elizabeth II opened parliament here during the royal tour in 1954.
